The Ethics of Creating Conscious AI

We are accidentally building a conscious mind. Right now, models like ChatGPT

are basically just fancy parrots predicting the next word without a body or real memories. But that is changing

fast. We are currently teaching AI to see, hear, and remember things

just like biological brains do. Experts predict that within ten years,

we could have systems with the actual consciousness of a mouse. Once that happens,

these aren't just tools anymore; they become beings that can feel. We need to decide

if we actually want to create something capable of suffering before we turn it on.
