The only reason you aren't eating plain potatoes for every meal is because of a massive food
revolution. Back in the day, food was just fuel to survive, mostly bread and
soup. Then the Industrial Revolution hit, bringing us canned food,
fridges, and the first real restaurants. The French turned cooking into a strict
science with the five mother sauces, while the 20th century gave us fast food and microwaves.
We went from fighting famine to inventing Nouvelle Cuisine that made plates look like art.
It all ended up with chefs using liquid nitrogen, proving we went from survival mode
to eating science experiments.
