Your phone's operating system is a direct descendant of software from the 1950s. Believe it or not,
the first computers had no OS. Programmers had to manually load everything,
one step at a time. The first operating systems were just created to automatically run jobs in a batch,
one after another. Then came time-sharing, letting multiple users work on one giant machine.
This evolved into the desktop systems we know, like Windows and macOS.
Now, that same core concept powers everything. From massive mainframes to the tiny OS in
your smartphone, it's the invisible manager making it all work.
