The First Migration Across the Sea

As persecution continued, and harm increased in Makkah, permission was given to seek safety elsewhere. <break time="0.8s" />

This was not a command for everyone to leave. <break time="0.8s" /> It was a mercy for those most vulnerable. <break time="0.8s" />

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) directed some believers to a land across the sea. <break time="0.8s" />

A land known for justice. <break time="0.8s" /> Where oppression was not tolerated. <break time="0.8s" /> The believers did

not leave openly. <break time="0.8s" /> They departed quietly. <break time="0.8s" /> Separately. <break time="0.8s" /> So Quraysh would not stop them. <break time="0.8s" />

Among the first to migrate were respected companions. <break time="0.8s" /> ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān (may Allah be pleased

with him). <break time="0.8s" /> And his wife Ruqayyah, the daughter of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him),

(may Allah be pleased with her). <break time="0.8s" /> Others joined them. <break time="0.8s" /> Men and women of faith. <break time="0.8s" />
