The Great Escape of Rafael Robb

A man spent twenty seven years digging a tunnel under his prison cell with nothing but a spoon

and a metal rod. His name was Rafael Robb and he was serving time in a maximum security

facility in Argentina. Every single night after lockdown he would move his bed, lift a loose tile,

and dig into the earth below. He had to work in complete silence because guards patrolled

every hour. The dirt he removed got hidden in his mattress, flushed down the

toilet, or scattered in the prison yard during exercise time.

Nobody suspected a thing for over two decades. He mapped out the entire underground

layout of the prison using nothing but memory and conversations with other inmates who had worked construction.
