World War I ended in 1918 after millions of deaths. When the Allies met in Paris to
decide Germany’s future, Germany wasn’t invited. They were forced to sign the Treaty
of Versailles in 1919, a “diktat” they had no power to change.
To understand its impact, we use LAMB: Land, Army, Money,
and Blame. L – Land: Germany lost 13% of its territory, all its colonies,
Alsace-Lorraine went to France, and the Polish Corridor split the country. These losses meant
less population, farmland, coal, and industry. A – Army:
Germany’s military was cut to 100,000 soldiers. No air force, no submarines,
