The internet is actually just a massive game of telephone played at the speed of
light. When you type a website address, your computer literally has no idea where
to go. It has to panic and ask a DNS server, which is basically the internet's phonebook,
to translate that name into an IP address. Once it has the number,
your request gets chopped into tiny digital packets. These packets travel through physical
cables, sometimes even under the ocean, to reach a server halfway across the
world. That server throws the data back, your browser stitches it together,
and the page loads. All that complex engineering happens in milliseconds just so you can
