The Jester and the Queen. Chapter one. The meadow before the world began.

Long before kingdoms rose and crowns grew heavy, there was only a meadow,

wide, green, and bright as a summer dream. In that meadow

played a kitten with silvery soft fur, and a puppy with a heart

too big for his paws. They chased butterflies, rolled in the grass,

and avoided the muddy puddles like they were traps set by mischievous spirits.
