The Knight's Duel with Death

A medieval knight believed Death was hunting him… so he challenged it to a duel.

Sir Robert FitzAlan claimed Death visited him every night in his dreams asking for his soul.

So he slept in full armor, spent his mornings sharpening his blade, and even built a

shrine he believed could trap Death inside. One night, villagers heard

violent screaming. When they rushed into his chamber, FitzAlan was dead — sword still in

hand — and a deep slash marked the wooden floor beside him, as if something

had struck back. He was buried in armor “to finish the fight in the afterlife.”

But decades later his tomb cracked open… and the sword was missing.
