The Operating System of Society

Rules exist because humans are terrible at predicting consequences. Without them, we would be

driving on whichever side of the road feels right that morning. Society tried the

no rules thing. It was called the Wild West and people shot each other.

Rules are permission slips for trust, like hygiene standards in restaurants. Traffic lights feel

restrictive, but they are the only reason we can cross streets safely.

Public parks stay clean because littering rules exist for everyone to contribute. Rules reduce decision

fatigue, acting as society's operating system running in the background.
