cheap just to destroy the French wine industry, which caused total chaos until they

rebranded it as malaria medicine. Then you have Prohibition. Women actually fought for the right to

vote specifically to ban alcohol because men were drinking away their paychecks. But banning it backfired

hard. It just created the mafia and turned Canada into a massive bootlegging operation

for the US. It turns out trying to control what people drink usually just makes them

drink it more.
