Seventy-five percent of the world’s active volcanoes are trapped in a single belt called the Ring
of Fire. It is actually terrifying when you realize these aren't just mountains,
but vents letting the Earth release pressure from deep underground. We named them after
the Roman god of fire for a reason. You have got the flat Shield volcanoes, the explosive Cinder
Cones, and the massive Composite ones like Mount Fuji. If one hasn't erupted
in ten thousand years, we call it inactive, but don't get too comfortable because
that molten rock is always moving beneath your feet.
