Rubbing a balloon on your head creates an invisible force. Seriously. When you do it,
the balloon becomes negatively charged, and your hair becomes positively charged. It's a basic rule
of physics: opposites attract. That's why your hair literally reaches out and sticks to
the balloon. But here's the twist. If you charge a second balloon on your hair,
the two balloons will push each other away. That's because things with the same charge
repel. So that crazy hat hair you get in the winter? It's just your individual
hairs, all positively charged, trying to escape from each other.
