Now, let us define the six trigonometric ratios. The first ratio
is sine, which is written as "sin". Sine of an angle is equal to perpendicular
divided by hypotenuse. The second ratio is cosine, written as "cos". Cosine of an angle
is equal to base divided by hypotenuse. The third ratio is tangent, written as "tan".
Tangent of an angle is equal to perpendicular divided by base. The next three ratios are reciprocals
of sine, cosine, and tangent. Cosecant, written as "cosec",
is equal to hypotenuse divided by perpendicular. Secant, written as "sec", is equal to hypotenuse
divided by base. Cotangent, written as "cot", is equal to base divided by perpendicular.
