# TikTok Video Script Aldehydes and ketones are absolutely everywhere in your life and you don't even realize
it. These compounds share one crucial feature: the carbonyl group,
which is a carbon double bonded to an oxygen. The carbon and oxygen atoms are sp² hybridized,
creating perfect 120 degree bond angles. The difference between them is simple.
Ketones have two carbon groups attached to that carbonyl carbon, while aldehydes
have at least one hydrogen hanging off it. Here's where it gets interesting.
That carbonyl group is polar, meaning the oxygen pulls electrons away from the carbon,
creating a dipole. This polarity makes these compounds way more interesting than boring hydrocarbons.
