The universe actually has a baby picture that predicts where every galaxy ended up.
It is called the Cosmic Microwave Background, and it comes from a time when space
was a hot, opaque fog. Once it cooled down to about 3300 Kelvin, light finally broke
free, traveling billions of years to reach us as faint static. The crazy part is
that the tiny hot spots in that ancient light became the massive superclusters of galaxies we see
today, while the cold spots turned into empty voids. We can trace this
history back to the Planck Time, but go any earlier, and physics literally stops working.
