The Wolf Supermoon: A Celestial Event

Tonight, the sky unveils the Wolf Supermoon, a rare celestial event captivating millions

around the globe. This occurs when the Moon reaches its perigee, the closest orbital

point to Earth, while fully illuminated. Our satellite follows an elliptical path rather than a

circle, meaning its distance from us constantly changes. On January 3,

the Moon will be just 356,500 kilometres away, marking a significant orbital milestone.

This makes the lunar disc appear 14 per cent larger and 30 per cent brighter

than usual.
