Chemistry actually forces you to learn three different timelines just to define an acid.
It started with Arrhenius, who claimed acids just dump hydrogen in water.
Simple, but way too basic since it fails without water. Then Bronsted-Lowry
leveled up, saying it’s actually about trading protons like currency. This explains way
more and introduced conjugate pairs. But the final boss is the Lewis theory. This one doesn't
even care about hydrogen. It defines acids as electron pair snatchers.
It is the broadest definition out there, proving that in science, the truth changes
depending on how close you look.
