Your blood is swimming with trillions upon trillions of cholesterol molecules. It sounds wild,
but it's just basic chemistry. The molar concentration of cholesterol in normal blood is
about 0.005 M. So, if we take a 750 milliliter sample, about the size of
a large drink, we can figure out exactly how many molecules that is. Using the molarity
and Avogadro's number, the math reveals a staggering figure. You're looking at roughly 2.26 times
10 to the 21 molecules. That’s over two sextillion cholesterol molecules, just in that small
sample of your blood.
