True Leadership: Listening to the People

Real democracy dies when leaders stop listening to the people they serve. We called and emailed

our MP constantly about Bill C-9, but we only got generic scripts. Meanwhile,

they fast-tracked the bill and changed laws behind closed doors, ignoring thousands

of regular people. There is a deep concept in Islamic philosophy called Amanah.

It means leadership is a sacred trust, not a power trip. A true leader is a servant who must

consult with the people, not hide from them. This applies to everyone because

right now, our input feels like a performance and their response is just theater.

We don't need an oligarchy with a help desk; we need representatives who actually listen.
