Your own body can create a cancer with just two tiny mistakes. In blood cancers
like acute leukemia, it follows a "two-hit model." The first hit is a genetic mutation
that's like the gas pedal for cell growth getting stuck down. This causes cells
to multiply uncontrollably. The second hit is a different mutation that blocks these cells from maturing.
They get stuck as useless, baby "blast" cells. So now you have an army of immortal
baby cells that won't stop dividing and can't do their job. They just take over,
crowding out all the healthy cells. It’s a biological takeover started by a couple of typos
in your DNA.
