Direct current is actually five times more likely to freeze your muscles in place than alternating
current. That is exactly why understanding electrical shock is the most important
part of the ATT Comp test. You need to know that just twelve milliamps is enough
to cause severe muscle contractions. When you are actually troubleshooting, remember the golden
rule that a short has zero voltage drop, but an open stops the flow entirely.
Whether you are dealing with transformers stepping voltage or rectifiers swapping AC to DC,
always isolate and insulate. One mistake with a live wire and you won't just fail
the test, you might not make it home.
