Lipedema is actually a connective tissue disorder, not a fat problem. Your body is essentially
overproducing collagen, turning the flexible netting around your fat cells into a rigid brick wall.
This fibrosis suffocates the tissue and crushes your nerves and blood vessels, which causes that
specific, intense pain and swelling. It is driven by estrogen,
which explains why it almost exclusively affects women. Standard calorie cutting usually
fails here, but new research shows a low-carb diet reduced pain four times more
than a low-fat diet. You don't just need to lose weight, you need to lower inflammation to
break down those collagen walls.
