That throbbing pain from an injury is actually a chemical alarm system. When you get hurt,
your tissues release arachidonic acid. Your body then uses an enzyme called COX to turn this
acid into prostaglandins, which are the little messengers that cause inflammation and scream "PAIN!"
to your brain. This is where drugs like Ibuprofen and Aspirin come in. As NSAIDs,
they work by blocking that COX enzyme, literally shutting down the pain factory at the source.
Opioids work differently, acting on your brain to change your perception of pain. So,
you're not just numbing pain; you're hacking your body's alerts.
