Paranoia in dementia is not your loved one being difficult. It's their brain creating false beliefs
that feel completely real to them. Someone with dementia might accuse you of stealing,
believe you're plotting against them, or think they're being watched. This happens because
dementia damages how the brain processes information and memories. Here's what actually
helps: never argue with their reality. Instead, acknowledge their feelings without
agreeing with the delusion. Say "that sounds scary" rather than "that's not true."
Redirect gently to another activity. Create routines and keep items in the same place to
reduce confusion. Remember, it's the disease talking, not them.
