Doctors once performed frontal lobotomies to "cure" anxiety, targeting the part of your brain that
handles planning and judgment. This wrinkly outer layer, your cortex,
is basically a map of you. Your frontal lobe is the CEO, your occipital lobe
processes vision, and your temporal lobe handles sound and language. Deeper inside,
your limbic system is your emotional core. The amygdala fires up for fear and
rage, while the hippocampus saves your precious memories. Your entire personality,
from logic to fear, is just different parts of your brain talking to each other.
