Your VPN is basically a secret, encrypted tunnel through the public internet.
Think about it: your phone connecting to your headphones is a tiny Personal Area Network.
Your home Wi-Fi? That's a Local Area Network, or LAN. These LANs connect
to form city-wide networks, which then plug into the massive Wide Area Network
we call the internet. It all started as a US military project called ARPANET. Now,
it's a global collection of networks all talking to each other using a standard language,
TCP/IP. Every time you click a link, you're sending data packets through
this giant web.
