Unseen Presence

I've been living alone in my one-bedroom apartment for eight months, and I'm starting

to think I haven't actually been alone. It started small. A wet sponge by the sink when I

knew I'd left it in the holder. My cereal box facing the wrong way. I told myself I

was tired, forgetful. Then I came home to a damp shower. Water still clinging

to the tile. The toilet seat was up. I'm a woman. I live alone.

I called my landlord, asked if maintenance had been inside. He said no. I changed the locks

myself. Two days later, I came home early from work. The closet door

in my hallway was open. I never open that closet. I hid a motion camera
