The Thirst of the Eternal Night The night did not fall all at once. It never did.

It arrived slowly, thick and heavy, as if the sky hesitated before turning the world off.

In the city of Valenrook, when the last bells stopped ringing and windows closed out of fear or habit,

they awoke. They were not monsters, though they were called such. They were not shadows,

though they lived within them. They were vampires. Female and male. Ancient beings,

born of broken promises, impossible loves, and a thirst that never fully faded.
