Voicemail From Tomorrow

This phone hasn't worked in years. No SIM, no battery, nothing.

So explain how it just started ringing. I grabbed it and the screen lit up bright.

Caller ID read ME tomorrow. The ringing cut off. A voicemail popped

up instantly. I pressed play and my own voice came through, crackling and distorted,

whispering don't leave at seven forty. I checked the time. Seven thirty nine. One minute away.

Heavy knocking echoed from the front door. The phone buzzed hard in my palm. New message loaded.

It said too late, you already answered. I looked up slowly. My front door was wide open.

I never unlocked it.
