Was Adam really the first human? Both the Quran and the Torah begin with his story —
but interpretations differ. In the Torah (Genesis 2:7), “The Lord God formed
man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.”
Adam becomes the first man, placed in Eden, given the task to name all creatures.
In the Quran (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:30), God says to the angels: “I am placing a successor on Earth.”
The word khalifah—successor—has sparked debate. Some scholars say it means Adam was the first human,
others that he was the first prophet among existing beings. Both scriptures agree on one truth:
Humanity begins with a divine act — life shaped by the hands of God, guided by His purpose.
