“If you release this man, you are no friend of Caesar.” And in that moment,
fear took the throne. John tells us Pilate wanted to release Jesus—but the fear of losing power,
position, and safety outweighed justice. The truth didn’t change.
Pilate did. And that’s how fear still works today. Not by arguing with truth…
but by silencing conviction. We know what’s right. We sense when God is calling us to
stand. But fear whispers, “What will this cost you?” Fear of people.
Fear of consequences. Fear of standing alone. So truth gets delayed. Conviction gets
