Time does not flow at the same speed everywhere. If you stand on a mountain,
time moves slightly faster for you than for someone standing at sea level. This belief came
largely from Isaac Newton (late 1600s), who described time as: “Absolute,
true, and mathematical time, of itself, and from its own
nature, flows equably without relation to anything external.” To Newton,
time was like a god’s clock—unaffected by motion, gravity, or perspective.
And for over 200 years, no one seriously challenged that idea.
Until one man looked at the universe and said: “What if time itself is lying to us?”
