When you pour a cold drink, tiny water drops appear on the outside of the
glass. as if it’s sweating. Where does that water actually come
from? The water isn’t leaking through the glass. It comes from
the air around the glass. Air always contains some water vapor, even when it
doesn’t feel humid. When the glass is cold, it chills the air touching its
surface. Cooler air can’t hold as much water vapor. Extra vapor condenses
into liquid droplets on the glass. This is the same process that forms dew on
grass in the morning. The colder the drink and the more humid the
