Ever seen your dog's paws flick or ears twitch while they're sleeping? That's perfectly normal,
a common part of their healthy sleep cycle. Like humans, dogs cycle through
different sleep stages. One important stage is REM sleep, when the brain becomes more active.
REM is strongly linked to dreaming in many mammals. During this stage, the brain can
trigger small muscle movements. That’s why you might see running motions,
tiny barks, or tail flicks. Puppies often twitch more because their brains and motor
systems are still developing. Older dogs may twitch too, especially if they’re
in deeper, more fragmented sleep. Most of the time, this is harmless
