You take a photo with flash… and suddenly someone looks like a movie villain.
Red-eye is a simple light reflection problem. The flash sends a burst of
light straight into the eye. That light passes through the pupil and hits the
back of the eye. The retina is rich in blood vessels.
When flash light reflects off that area, it can bounce back into the
camera. The camera captures that reflection as a red glow. Red-eye is more
common in low light. That’s because pupils expand in darkness, letting more flash
light in. The closer the flash is to the lens, the more likely
