Reddit Post to Video: Make AI Reddit Story Videos in 6 Steps

Paste a Reddit link and get a narrated, captioned vertical video. Here are the six steps in today's Revid editor, the posts worth using, the right length per platform, and how to keep these videos monetizable.

How to Transform Reddit Posts into Videos with AI
On this page

To turn a Reddit post into a video, paste its link into Revid's Reddit Video Maker and click Generate video. Revid reads the post, narrates it with an AI voice and adds synced captions over Minecraft gameplay. You get a vertical 9:16 video for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.

The step most guides skip comes after the export. On YouTube, a video that only reads out text the creator didn't write counts as reused content, and that policy applies to the whole channel. Since March 2026, Facebook has also treated reels that only narrate what is on screen as unoriginal. Making a Reddit video takes minutes, and making one that counts as yours takes a few deliberate choices, covered below.

How to turn a Reddit post into a video with Revid

The Reddit Video Maker reads the post from its link, so you never copy the text by hand.

  1. Open the Reddit Video Maker. Start from its tool page. Inside the app, specialized tools sit under "All tools" in the sidebar and under "More tools" on the Create page (the sidebar "Create" button, shortcut C).

The Create page: specialized tools like the Reddit Video Maker sit under More tools
  1. Paste the post URL and generate. Copy the link of a single Reddit post and paste it into the link field. Posts with many comments give Revid more material to work with. The footer shows the "Estimated cost" in credits next to "Generate video": click it, and the finished project appears in "Videos".

  2. Rewrite the lines that need it. Click the project card to open the editor. The "Script" panel lists every caption segment with its own text box and start time. Sharpen the first line, cut slow sentences, or hide a segment with the eye icon. When you change text, Revid reminds you to regenerate the voice if the timing changed.

Step 3: every caption segment is editable in the Script panel
  1. Regenerate the voiceover. Open "Audio" in the left rail and find the line under "Project Voiceovers". Click Re-generate, then "Generate Voice". Leave "Keep timeline in sync" on so clips, captions and music follow the new narration. This costs 10 credits per started 500 characters and needs a paid plan.

Step 4: regenerate any voiceover line from the Audio panel
  1. Swap the background or trim. Select the gameplay clip and click Replace to pick another clip from the Media panel (your Library or Stock videos). To trim, drag a clip's edge on the timeline, or press S to split at the playhead. The guide to regenerating a scene in Revid covers the AI options for individual clips.

  2. Export or publish. Click Export at the top right ("Export / Publish" on a free account). Revid exports in 720p, 1080p or 4K at 30 or 60 fps, and 1080x1920 is the size TikTok recommends. To post directly, the "Publish Video" dialog lets you choose accounts under "Publish to", then "Publish" now or "Add to queue". Connect your accounts first in Settings > Integrations: TikTok, YouTube, Instagram (Business or creator account) and X are available.

Reddit story video template: what goes on screen

Every Reddit story video uses the same template. Copy it:

PartWhat it doesExample
First linePromises the payoff, read and shown as a caption"My sister uninvited me from her wedding, and the reason is worse than you think."
SetupTwo or three sentences of context, no moreWho, where, what was supposed to happen
Conflict and twistThe part people stay forThe message, the reveal, the argument
EndingA verdict or a question for the comments"Was I wrong?" or a teaser for Part 2
BackgroundKeeps the eyes busy under the captionsMinecraft parkour or Subway Surfers gameplay

Revid has three ways to build it, depending on where you start:

Starting pointRevid toolBest when
A specific Reddit postReddit Video MakerYou have the post, and permission or your own post
A topic or an #askreddit threadAI Reddit story video generatorYou want a script written for you, not a word-for-word reading
Any text or PDFMinecraft parkour video generator or Subway Surfers video generatorYou want the same voice-plus-gameplay look for your own writing

The format works partly because it is faceless. In Revid's analysis of 176,367 TikToks with 1,000+ likes posted between October 2025 and October 2026, faceless videos had a median of 114K views, and 17.4% passed 1M views. Videos with one person on camera had 67K and 12.7% (full study). The sample only holds videos that already reached 1,000 likes, so it shows what successful videos have in common, not a guaranteed result.

Write an original AITA-style story about a coworker who took credit for my project in front of the CEO. Open with the line "I let him present my work, and then I asked one question." Keep the setup to two sentences, build to the twist, and end by asking viewers who was wrong. Fast AI voice over Minecraft parkour gameplay with bold captions, about 75 seconds.

Which Reddit posts make good videos?

A Reddit story video lives or dies on its first line and its ending. Use these rules to choose a post:

  • If the post has a twist, open on it. Rewrite the title into a first line that promises the payoff.
  • If the backstory runs long, cut it. Keep the setup short, then get to the conflict.
  • If the post ends without a resolution, add one. Close with your verdict or a question that gives viewers a reason to comment.
  • Prefer posts with active comment threads. A strong top comment makes a natural ending or a Part 2.
  • Add something of yours. An intro line, your verdict or your own retelling is what separates your video from every other account reading the same post.

Don't expect narration alone to carry the video. In the same Revid analysis, TikToks with under 40 characters of speech had a 123K median, and 20.2% passed 1M views. Videos that talked throughout (300+ characters of speech) had 68K and 11.9%, close to the overall median of 64.4K. A fully narrated story is not a handicap, but the voice is not the edge either: the hook, the pacing and the story are.

How long should a Reddit story video be?

Length matters less than most creators think. In Revid's 12-month TikTok study, every length bucket from under 15 seconds to 10 minutes had a median between 58K and 76K views, with 61 to 90 seconds at 70K. So let the story set the length, then check each platform's rules:

PlatformLength ruleWhat it means for Reddit stories
TikTokUploads up to 60 minutesCreator Rewards only pays on videos at least 1 minute long
YouTube ShortsVertical or square videos up to 3 minutesA Short over 1 minute with an active Content ID claim is blocked, so use music and gameplay you have rights to
Instagram ReelsUp to 20 minutesReels over 3 minutes are not recommended to non-followers
FacebookAny length, every video is a reelNarration-only reels are treated as unoriginal

A practical rule: if the story fits in 61 to 90 seconds, post it as one video on every platform. If it runs longer, split it into parts and end each part on a cliffhanger.

Can you monetize Reddit story videos?

Yes, but not by reading other people's posts word for word. Each platform draws the line differently:

  • YouTube: content that only reads out material the creator didn't write counts as reused content, and the policy applies to the whole channel. AI tools are allowed when the final video shows your creative vision and gives educational or entertainment value.
  • TikTok: the Creator Rewards Program excludes lightly modified reposts and text-only videos. It also requires 10,000 followers and 100,000 views in the last 30 days.
  • Facebook: since March 2026, reels that only narrate what is on screen are deprioritized, as are reposts with only captions or speed changes, and repeat offenders can be demonetized.

The safest sources, in order:

  1. Your own Reddit posts.
  2. Stories written from a topic with the AI Reddit story video generator.
  3. Other users' posts, with their permission, credit and your own commentary added.

How to automate Reddit story videos

A Reddit video bot is a workflow that creates story videos on a schedule. In Revid, that is an Auto-Mode worker, and it needs an active plan.

  1. Open Auto Mode in the sidebar and click New worker. Workers run once a day, between 1 AM and 5 AM in your account's timezone.
  2. Name your worker and pick a job. Under "What should it make?", choose "Repurpose Fresh Content" and enter a subreddit as the "Source of your content". Single post links are refused, so use the subreddit itself. In the optional "Tell the AI what to do" box, ask it to retell the story in its own words and end on a verdict.
  3. Pick the format. Choose the video tool from the formats that fit the goal, then the voice, music and other options once; every run reuses them.
  4. Choose delivery. "Review First" keeps each video in Revid for you to check. "Auto Queue" sends it to the posting queue of the social accounts you select, and needs at least one connected account.
  5. Check the Worker preflight and create it. The panel shows "Est. credits per run" and "Est. monthly credits". Click "Create worker", or "Create and run once" to see a first video now.

Each run, a subreddit worker reads the subreddit's top posts of the day. It skips posts used in the last 3 runs and makes one video. If nothing new turns up, the run is skipped.

If you would rather not depend on other people's posts, pick "Run a Daily AI Series" instead and give it a broad topic, such as workplace dilemmas. That way, the worker writes a different original story each day.

Growth includes 3 Auto-Mode workers, Elite 5 and Ultra 10. Developers and AI agents can run the same workflow through Revid's API, MCP server and CLI, included on every paid plan. Automation does not change the monetization rules above: a daily series of verbatim readings is exactly what YouTube calls mass-produced.

Can you turn a Reddit image post into a video?

Yes. If the post is mostly a meme, a photo or a screenshot rather than text, save the image and animate it into a short clip with the photo to video converter. For text posts, the Reddit Video Maker is the faster route.

Can you make Reddit videos in another language?

Yes. Revid offers 1,000+ AI voices in 70+ languages and automatic captions in 100+ languages. For a new video, write or paste the script in the language you want. To convert a video you already made, open its card menu and choose "Translate". Then, in the Translate Video tool, pick a "Target language". Leave "Use another voice" off to keep the original voice. The edit, media, timing and captions stay the same.

FAQ

Is Revid's Reddit video maker free?

Sign-up is free, and new accounts get free credits to try video creation, no credit card needed. Regular creation then uses the monthly credits of a paid plan, from $39/month for Growth with 2,000 credits; Revid pricing lists current plans.

Is it legal to use someone's Reddit post in a video?

The words belong to the person who wrote them, so ask for permission, credit the author and add your own commentary. Revid uses what you give it, and you are responsible for having the rights to anything you reuse.

What background do Reddit story videos use?

Most use looping gameplay such as Minecraft parkour or Subway Surfers, which keeps the eyes busy while the voice tells the story. Revid's Reddit Video Maker uses a Minecraft background, and you can swap it with "Replace" in the editor.

How many Reddit story videos should I post?

Post only as many as you can keep original. Under YouTube's rules from February 1, 2027, a monetized channel counts as active with 2 long-form videos or 5 Shorts uploaded every 90 days (or enough views), so consistency matters more than volume.
