Ancient Greece wasn't one unified country, it was hundreds of independent city-states separated by mountains
and seas. This geography created two completely opposite societies. Athens gave us democracy,
philosophy, and the arts, where men debated politics while women stayed home.
Meanwhile, Sparta was a military machine where boys started combat training at seven and women
were expected to be physically strong to produce warrior children. The craziest part?
Both systems worked incredibly well for centuries. Athens became the intellectual capital
of the ancient world, while Sparta built the most feared army in Greece. These rival city-states
shaped Western civilization more than any empire, proving that isolation can breed innovation.
