Call Completed

At 2:17 a.m., my phone rang. No caller ID. No voicemail option. Just one word on

the screen: “Answer.” I should’ve ignored it. Everyone knows nothing

good happens after 2 a.m. But curiosity beats fear every time. So I picked up.

MIDDLE (Rising Tension) The voice on the other end sounded calm. Too calm.

“Listen carefully,” it said. “You’re not in trouble. Yet.” I laughed.

Nervous. Stupid. “Wrong number,” I said. The voice replied,

“You’re sitting on your bed. Red hoodie. Left shoe still on.”

My stomach dropped. Then it said something worse: “You made a choice last year.
