Every building in Delhi is at the mercy of one single document from 1957. The Delhi Development
Act is the reason the DDA exists and why the Master Plan is basically the city's bible.
They control everything from zoning to government lands. If you add a room or change a wall
without their written permission, you are technically breaking the law. They have the power
to enter your property, seal it, or straight-up demolish it if it doesn't fit their vision.
So if you see a bulldozer rolling down the street, just remember it’s enforcing a sixty-year-old
rulebook.
