Electrolysis: Powering Chemistry with Electricity

You can literally rip molecules apart just by zapping them with electricity. It is called electrolysis

and it is the only reason we have pure metals or hydrogen fuel. Here is the cheat

code: you dissolve a compound so the ions are free to move, then you blast a

current through it. Opposites attract, so the positive metal ions run to

the negative side and turn back into solid metal. It is how they plate cheap jewelry with

gold and how we make rocket fuel. You are basically forcing chemistry to happen just by

pushing electrons around.
