Enforcing Child Maintenance Arrears

Ms Evon Lim and her ex-husband, Mr Tony Leung, have three children. In August 2021,

the High Court recorded a consent Decree Nisi order requiring Mr Leung to pay RM5,000 every month

for the children, in addition to their education and medical expenses. Mr Leung failed

to comply with the order. By January 2024, arrears had accumulated to RM102,240.

Ms Lim then commenced committal proceedings. In March 2024, the High Court found Mr Leung in contempt

of court but imposed only a fine of RM10,000 after accepting his apology. Dissatisfied,

Ms Lim appealed to the Court of Appeal. In September 2024, a consent order

was recorded at the Court of Appeal, where Mr Leung agreed to pay all outstanding sums by instalments,
