Dede Korkut never wrote a single word of the legendary stories named after him.
Those epic tales of the Oghuz Turks were actually anonymous oral history recorded centuries later,
mixing poetry with prose. That is the wild root of Turkish storytelling before
it evolved into the modern short story. Unlike a novel that drags on forever,
a true short story hits hard with just one main event, fewer characters, and zero fluff.
While Ahmet Mithat dropped the first collection, Samipaşazade Sezai actually modernized
the whole game. It is all about keeping the drama intense and the details scarce.
