Insane Insect Predators

Fireflies are actually serial killers. Specifically the femme fatale species, which mimics the

flash patterns of other fireflies just to lure guys in and eat them alive.

The insect world is actually insane. You have click beetles that snap their spines to do backflips

and blister beetles that bleed chemicals to burn your skin. Then there are fleas, which are basically

spring-loaded vampires that caused the Black Death. And never trust a fly—some maggots

eat rotting fruit, but screwworms eat living flesh. If bugs were human-sized, we wouldn’t stand

a chance.
