Ancient Egyptians didn't live in stone pyramids; they lived in mud houses. Most Egyptians,
from the poor to the rich, built their homes from simple mud bricks made from
Nile river sludge and straw. The wealthiest even had two-story houses with internal courtyards,
bathrooms, and private wells. So why all the stone? That was reserved for the gods and
the afterlife. They built massive temples and the iconic pyramids as eternal homes
for their pharaohs, believing death was just the beginning of a new journey. They built temporary
homes for their lives, but eternal stone houses for their deaths.
