to forget their personal beliefs and become a hypothetical 'ordinary intelligent voter.' This is
a smart person who reads the news but has zero specialized knowledge on the topic.
This means you can't just drop technical jargon or obscure facts and expect to win.
You have to explain your arguments simply, as if to a stranger. It's not about who sounds the smartest,
but who is the most persuasive. So, it's not what you know,
it's how well you explain it.
