Pledge to a Broken School System

Please rise for the pledge of allegiance. And please sit for the

sanitization of everything else. I pledge allegiance every day, right hand up,

eyes on display. While they erased entire tribes and white-washed all the civil rights.

They taught us war was freedom's friend, that Columbus came to make amends.

We colored maps, we said the prayer, but truth was never really there.

History books with half the facts, report cards used to cover cracks. The test scores

rise, the funding drops, and no one questions who's on top.

I pledge allegiance to the test scores, to the silent halls of death.
