Praise Effort, Build Confidence

Teaching your kid to be confident starts with one thing most parents get wrong.

Stop praising the outcome and start praising the effort. When your kid brings home an A,

don't say you're so smart. Say I noticed how hard you studied. When they score

a goal, don't say you're the best player. Say I saw you practicing every day and it

paid off. Here's why this matters. Kids who are praised for being smart

or talented become terrified of failure. They think if they mess up, they're no longer

smart. But kids praised for effort learn that trying hard is what matters.
