Redefining Development: Beyond Economic Growth

Nearly half the world's population survives on less than two dollars a day.

Imagine a family in a rich country with a comfortable home, two cars,

and kids heading to college. Now, picture a family in a poor country,

with eight people crammed into one room, struggling for a single daily meal,

with no clean water or healthcare. For decades, we thought "development" just meant growing

the economy, assuming the wealth would trickle down. But many countries got richer while

the poor stayed poor, or even got poorer. If poverty, unemployment,

and inequality aren't getting better, it's not real development.
