Revolution to Empire: A Cycle of Chaos

The French Revolution is the ultimate proof that a good idea can go completely off the rails.

It started with the Enlightenment, where guys like Rousseau and Voltaire used actual logic

to argue that kings shouldn't own people. But France was broke, bread cost a fortune, and Louis XVI was

a disaster. So, the people stormed the Bastille and things got messy.

Enter Robespierre, who thought the best way to protect freedom was to guillotine literally everyone

during the Reign of Terror. The wildest part is that after killing a King to stop a

monarchy, they just handed the keys to Napoleon, who crowned himself Emperor and started

the whole cycle over again.
